I am president of Agere Global, an investment advisory and business strategy firm based in New York.
I am also the founder of Congo Business Network, an international network of Congolese professionals and entrepreneurs. Our mission is to connect the diaspora to the business world in Congo.
And I came from the Democratic Republic of Congo and have lived in the United States for 22 years.
After finishing high school in Bethesda, Maryland, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was based in California where I managed training resources for over 1,000 Marines who participated in a weekly training in order to get ready for their missions.
After my service, I went to the University of Maryland where I graduated with bachelor degrees in finance, marketing, and politics.
Then I worked at SunTrust Bank in Maryland managing client relationships to ensure that clients were satisfied with their banking services.
From there, I went to work in Barack Obama’s presidential campaign and was tasked with handling an effective election strategy in the highly competitive states of Ohio and Florida.
After that, I transitioned to J.P. Morgan in New York where I worked in global treasury services advisory. My team advised chief financial officers from Fortune 500 companies on how to optimize working capital so that they can have sufficient funds to run their companies.
And I participated in the Wall Street Warfighters program and was provided with valuable training at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. I also attended the Executive Education in Finance program at the Wharton School in Philadelphia.
Next, I worked at Drexel Hamilton, an investment bank based in the Financial District in Manhattan where I learned the fixed income trading and capital markets business by working with employees who had many years of experience from such firms as Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, and Credit Suisse.
