A hackathon is a design sprint-like event; often, in which computer programmers and others involved in software development, including graphic designers, interface designers, project managers, domain experts, and others collaborate intensively on software projects.
The Opportunity Hackathon will be held completely virtual on slack, zoom and a couple of other tools provided by our partner organizations, with a view to completely simulate what it looks like to work remotely with individuals across different timezones.
Teams can redeem data subscription of up to $10 after completing the design thinking track, on verification of your course certificate, you will see the option to request for your data on your afrikathon account page.
That’s okay! A hackathon is a great place to gain valuable experience. There will be tutorials, workshops and mentors to help throughout the event!

Afrikathon welcomes participants of all skill levels. At the core of our process is Design Thinking which is a barrier less entry into user centered design for not just software and tech products, but solutions in a wide range of fields. We’ll have talks, hallway tracks, mentors and workshops to help you with your project; hackathons can be a great place to learn new skills in a short amount of time. Just be eager to learn, and excited to meet lots of awesome people.
Teams can consist of 2 Members minimum and 4 members maximum, our ideal number are teams of 3 persons with a Software Developer, A Designer, and a Marketing/Communications Person
Yes it is. Our hackathon process has been designed to run completely virtual with team check-ins. strict evaluation checkpoints that mimic a remote working experience.
